Virtual reality-supported biofeedback for stress management: Beneficial effects on heart rate variability and user experience

چکیده

Heart rate variability biofeedback (HRV-BF) is frequently used for stress management. Recently, virtual reality technology has gained attention delivery, promising higher immersion, motivation, and than classical screens. However, the effects of different technologies breathing techniques are not yet understood. In this study, 107 healthy participants completed a session in one four conditions: HRV-BF on desktop screen, via head-mounted display (HMD), standardised paced without feedback (sPB) or sPB HMD. All setups significantly reduced perceived increased heart (HRV). Practising HRV-BF, however, led to greater increases low frequency band HRV cardiac coherence sPB, using an HMD rather screen also coherence. As user experience, immersion adaptation interface quality were HMDs facilitating conditions better While all technique combinations feasible effective management, immersing oneself with might yield benefits terms target outcomes several experience measures. Future research necessary confirm any long-term such mode delivery.

Heart rate variability biofeedback: effects of age on heart rate variability, baroreflex gain, and asthma.

OBJECTIVES To present additional analysis of data from a previously published study showing that biofeedback training to increase heart rate variability (HRV) can be an effective component in asthma treatment. HRV and intervention-related changes in HRV are negatively correlated with age. Here we assess the effects of age on biofeedback effects for asthma. DESIGN Ten sessions of HRV biofeedba...

Heart Rate Variability Biofeedback for Major Depression

Heart rate variability for the treatment of major depression is a novel, alternative approach that can offer symptom reduction with minimal-to-no noxious side effects. The following material will illustrate some of the work being conducted at our laboratory to demonstrate the efficacy of heart rate variability. Namely, results will be presented regarding our published work on an initial open-la...

Heart rate variability (HRV) during virtual reality immersion

The goal of the study was assessment of the hour-long training involving handling virtual environment (sVR) and watching a stereoscopic 3D movie on the mechanisms of autonomic heart rate (HR) regulation among the subjects who were not predisposed to motion sickness. In order to exclude predispositions to motion sickness, all the participants (n=19) underwent a Coriolis test. During an exposure ...

The effect of heart rate variability biofeedback training on stress and anxiety: a meta-analysis.

BACKGROUND Some evidence suggests that heart rate variability (HRV) biofeedback might be an effective way to treat anxiety and stress symptoms. To examine the effect of HRV biofeedback on symptoms of anxiety and stress, we conducted a meta-analysis of studies extracted from PubMed, PsycINFO and the Cochrane Library. METHODS The search identified 24 studies totaling 484 participants who receiv...
